Bitterroot River |
The Bitterroot River runs north from it source as it reaches for the Clark Fork River. So named as Lewis and Clark saw a number of bitter root plants in the area;it is also now the Montana state flower.The fishing includes Westslope Cutthroat, Brown Trout and Rainbows are the main fish.Whitefish are also popular. There are numerous places to access the river. There are good paved roads on the river and its forks. The river grows in size as it runs north towards the Clarks Fork River which is located on the west side of Missoula at an elevation of 3110 ft.
