Wise River |
Wise River is surrounded by a half-million acres of peaks, lakes and headwaters in the Pioneer Mountains and offers some of Montana's most breathtaking scenery. Located near the Beaverhead National Forest 40 miles southwest of Butte at the spot where the Wise River flows into the Big Hole River, the community comprises a country school, church, post office, two bar/cafes and a general store. The community is a popular tourist area in summer with fly fishing and camping being the most popular activities. In winter, snowmobiling is a popular activity in the area.
