Big Sky Documentary Film Festival

 



The Montana Film Office (MFO) returned for its eighth year as a sponsor of the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival. The festival, which takes place in historic downtown Missoula, has become the largest cinema event in Montana and the premier venue for non-fiction film in the American West. The ten-day event features an average of 125 non-fiction films from all over the world.

SXSW RECAP

SXSW 2011

Montana and Moving Pictures Magazine have a long-standing relationship, co-hosting many filmmaker events over the past three years. The genesis of this relationship began at South by Southwest (SXSW) when Sten Iversen, MFO Manager, met with Peter Trimarco, Moving Pictures Magazine Publisher. The partnership continued this year with Moving Pictures representing Montana in its booth at SXSW.

INTERNATIONAL WILDLIFE FILM FESTIVAL

May 7-14, 2011


IWFF

 

The MFO returns as a sponsor of the first and longest running wildlife film festival in the world – the prestigious International Wildlife Film Festival (IWFF). This seven-day film festival takes place in the heart of Montana's breathtaking Northern Rockies in historic downtown Missoula.

The MFO will host a Welcome to Montana Filmmakers Reception on Monday, May 9 from 6-8pm for registered festival delegates and guests.

PRODUCED BY CONFERENCE / AFCI LOCATIONS TRADE SHOW

June 3-5, 2011


Locations Trade Show

 

The MFO will be returning to Los Angeles in June to participate in two marketing events - the Produced By Conference in association with AFCI's Locations Trade Show. This new combined event will feature over 1,100 producers and industry executives in one place, on the Walt Disney's Studio lot.

The MFO invites you to register to attend the conference and to come see us at the show. Registration information can be found at www.afci.org or www.producedbyconference.com. Full PGA conference registration includes breakout sessions featuring panels and roundtable discussions as well as the opportunity to visit the exhibitors and network with some of the top producers in the world. If you are not able to attend the conference but would like to meet with the MFO, please contact us at montanafilm@mt.gov to schedule a meeting time from June 2-6.

"FROM THE EDGE WITH PETER LIK"

From the Edge with Peter Lik

The Weather Channel’s new television series "From the Edge with Peter Lik" follows master photographer Peter Lik as he captures nature's most amazing places with his stunning perspective and fearless drive to go where few others dare to go. In the Montana episode, Peter travels to Glacier National Park to capture images that might not be around much longer. This new series is set to premiere March 31.

Toyota

Toyota shows its love for Big Sky Country once again! Bandito Brothers recently shot documentary-style footage for Toyota's online media. The crew rented snowmobiles and filmed for two days in mid-February at the Otter Creek Ranch in Big Timber, Montana.
