The old mining town of Philipsburg lies at an elevation of 5280 feet and is cradled within 3 mountain ranges, the Sapphire Mountains to the west, the Flint Range to the east, and the Pintler Mountains to the south. The roots of the area started as a booming mining town in the late 1800's which is made evident through the historic and beautiful buildings lining main street. Philipsburg lies along Pintler Scenic Loop. This drive takes you 63 miles through snow capped mountains, sagebrush covered hills, open meadows, and picturesque lakes
