| At 11,531 acres, Makoshika is the largest of Montana's State Parks. The name Makoshika roughly translates from a Lakota indian phrase meaning bad land or bad spirits. This rough and unique landscape has been host to many fossil remains of such dinosaurs as tyrannosaurus and triceratops. With an other worldly look, Evergreen trees create a contrast to the red, scarred, rocky landscape. Other plants such as cactus, sagebrush, range grasses, and wildflowers add even more variety to its look. |
