The Golden Triangle

The Golden Triangle

Montana’s Golden Triangle is a ripple of rich wheat fields that takes the shape of an inverted triangle with the city of Great Falls at the peak. The eastern border follows Highway 87 and ends at Havre, then continues west along Highway 2 making its way to the Blackfeet Reservation. After passing through Browning the triangle completes its loop heading southeast through Choteau back to the electric city of Great Falls. This area is the most productive dry-land strip farming area in the state of Montana. The winter wheat is planted in the fall and harvested in late-August and the spring wheat is planted in late spring and harvested in mid-September. Looking west the Rocky Mountain Front serves as a magnificent backdrop and to the east the Montana Hi-Line’s ongoing horizon stretches far into the distance. Silos and grain elevators dot the uncluttered landscape. Click here to see more photos of the Golden Triangle.
